Beware of this company. We had no end of trouble when recently using its services to ship our personal effects from Israel. Examples include: (1) being provided with an official volume (that is, the actual measured volume provided after the initial quote) only to be later told that the actual volume was in fact greater. Although we were prepared to bear the cost of the company's error if the company provided formal documentation showing that the claimed increase reflected the actual volume, the company refused to substantiate its claims. We personally went and had the shipment measured under the supervision of univers transit's local agent (in Australia) only to find that the actual volume was less than that claimed by the company; (2) the company varying the way the exchange rate was calculated and, from the outset, refusing to provide clear information on the "maritime exchange rate" that was to form the basis of this calculation; (3) the company's choice of local freight forwarding service (CWT Globelink) which resulted in exhorbitant fees of more than $1000 upon delivery to Australia (nothing to do with customs or government charges which were additional). On researching further upon our arrival to Australia we were informed that we would have saved hundreds of dollars had we sent a full container rather than a partial container thereby cutting this provider out of the picture - not that this was ever communicated to us by univers transit.
