MANAGER OF MARINE SERVICES
We are looking for a person to join the management team of the Wellesley Group to coordinate our marine operations.
The Wellesley Harbour Cruise Ship is a 40 metre cruise ship, surveyed to carry up to 150 passengers. She is berthed at Taranaki Street Wharf in New Zealand. Her current business is weekend and evening dinner cruises and is approaching her peak Christmas season.
The Wellesley Hovercraft is the largest hovercraft in the southern hemisphere and is surveyed to carry 30 passengers. It has undergone sea trials only in Wellington.
The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
- Must be able to manage the vessels and crew
- Must excel in customer service delivery with excellent communication skills
- A demonstrated ability to maintain full safety and engineering compliance.
- Professionalism and positive “can do” attitude
A coastal masters or a relevant marine qualification would be desirable as a key part of the role would be acting as skipper. The appointee will work with our current skipper who will continue in a operational role, carrying with him the experience he has gained on the vessel during the last ten years.
This role would require the individual to oversee the entire marine operations for the group including maintenance programes, administration (including compliance) and staffing for both vessels.
We intend to relocate both vessels to the Coral Coast in Fiji, where we own and operate the Wellesley Resort. This role may therefore require a significant amount of time working in Fiji.
The successful candidate would ideally have a strong engineering background and be technically knowledgeable in marine mechanics and maintenance.
He/She would need to possess strong administration, research and development skills as the first major project would be coordinating the relocation of the vessels to Fiji.
